This is a brief account of the history of Gawler districts football club:

1991- Adelaide Plains entered a side to be based at Two Wells Football Club. Their jumper design was to be red, black and white vertical stripes based on the St. Kilda AFL guernsey.

1993- Adelaide Plains decided to change home grounds and left the Two Wells Football Club, moving to Eldred Riggs Reserve in Evanston.

1994- Adelaide Plains changed their name to Gawler Districts as their oval at Evanston was home to the South Gawler Club.

1996- Gawler Districts changed home grounds again, this time moving to Gawler Central Oval at Princess Park Dog Track.

2000- Gawler Districts made their final move, leaving Princess Park and settling down at Argarna Park, the home of the Elizabeth Football Club.

2001- When the team of the millennium was named, the 500+ game legend of Two Wells Tony Burne was the only footballer from Gawler Districts to receive the honour.

Gawler have regular representation in the national carnivals each year.
